Each of these pillars is driven by a group of passionate employees. GM encourages all its full-time employees to take 4 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer for community initiatives.

GM India Inaugurated a New Football Pitch in New Delhi

GM under the banner ‘Beautiful Possibilities Programme’ is committed to bring play to disadvantaged communities around the world. Reaffirming its commitment GM India refurbished a pitch for non-profit Slum Soccer in Kolkata last year. Continuing with the legacy, the company dedicated a new football pitch in New Delhi to benefit underprivileged children. GM India has partnered with Sudeva Sports, a local NGO, with a focus to encourage young children to take up a sport and connect them to a world of possibilities. The pitch would be used as a tool for children to provide access to football while keeping them away from negative influences by focusing their attention on education through sports.

The event saw young kids of Sudeva Sports playing an energetic football play session with the GM leadership enthusiastically and was the highlight of the day.

GM’s partnership with One World Futbol dates back to 2012 and since then several initiatives have been taken to benefit young kids who would otherwise end up becoming victims of child labor.

The outdoor pitch now serves as a safe place for the community and encourages local children to stay in school. Moving forward, the pitch will also be used as a venue for local events and sports matches.

In continuation to the above initiative, GM India donated 6000 Manchester United footballs in September 2016 to Sudeva, a sports NGO, which works with underprivileged children in different states.

CSR Initiatives at GMTC-I Bengaluru

In 2010 we partnered with Gunjur School, a school run by the government. GMTC-I’s vision is to turn this into a Model School. Since the inception of the project, we have engaged intensively with the school’s students and teachers ensuring that we take care of their needs and help them sustain themselves. Donating school kits to the students is a yearly affair.

Growing a culture of environmentally conscious employees at GMTC-India

Through the year the ‘Go Green’ Committee at GMTC-I works towards creating a culture of environmentally conscious employees. World Environment Day (WED) occupies a significant space in the events charter for the site. In 2016 we kicked off the Lake Rejuvenation Program. Over 350 employees participated in the activity as part of the WED Celebrations. We hosted a clean-up and plantation drive on the sidewalks of the Lake.

This cause created a lot of buzz simply because Bengaluru was once known for its lakes but this isn’t the case anymore. The sole purpose for this clean up and plantation activity by the lake was to create a ripple effect and to drive home the message that this is going to be a sustained effort, not a one-time activity. We’ve partnered with the Trust of Chinnappanahalli Lake at Whitefield, to ensure we continue to do good work. Through this activity, employees connected with like-minded individuals work towards becoming environmental stewards.

Road Safety Awareness Programme in August 2016

Serving the community is a part of GM’s DNA, while we continue with our endeavors, we leave no stone unturned in educating citizens about road safety and product safety. We have a Chevy Safety Drive Team and their primary focus is to spread awareness on road safety. Use of helmets, seat belts, use of child seats, how air bags protect you during a collision.

Being cautious on roads is as important as the safety features in a car. The awareness drive was conducted with the intent to orient the audience towards road safety and inculcate good practice around the same. The Bengaluru team conducted safety related sessions and workshops in schools and residential apartments.
